Acupuncture for Performing Artists
Unique Help for Performing Artists
Performing
artists, especially musicians, have been called "small-muscle Olympians."
Whether you are a musician, singer or dancer your body is your art:
"Giving it your all" requires sound physical health and calm mental
clarity. Chinese medicine strengthens qi -- or vital energy, alleviates
pain and boosts the immune system. Regular "tune-up" treatments
can lead to the enhanced energy, focus and stamina needed for optimal
artistic expression.
In addition
to health maintenance, acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine can
be effective for many health problems that limit musicians, singers
and dancers.
- Singers
and wind instrumentalists can gain relief from a wide
range of throat and respiratory ailments.

- String
instrumentalists, horn players and percussionists can
gain relief from repetitive strain injuries, back and neck
tension and pain, and tendinitis.

- Dancers
can gain relief from sprains, strains, sciatica, arthritis
and other injuries.

- All
performers can benefit from increased flexibility and
physical stamina, a more resilient immune system and calm
mental clarity.

Urgent Pre-Performance
Treatments
Chinese medicine
emphasizes prevention and health maintenance. However, in times
of acute pain or illness, an urgent treatment may vitalize a performance,
recording session or audition.
Urgent treatments
may take place at a performance venue or recording studio, in your
home or hotel, or in our clinic. Please call (415) 846.4643 for
more information on scheduling an urgent treatment.
On Tour?
Touring poses
a particular challenge to musicians. A rigorous schedule, poor airline
ventilation and jet lag can cause fatigue, pain and respiratory
problems that may hinder performance.
Artists on
tour through the San Francisco Bay Area may pre-schedule appointments
via email or telephone. Make an appointment.
Arrangements
may also be made for Amy to accompany your ensemble on tour. Please
call or email for more information.
